The Lady Knights got off to a great post-season start by qualifying 8 girls to the Regional Championships next Tuesday hosted by Bloomington North High School. To qualify for regionals, individuals or relay teams have to finish in the top 3 in their event or wait for a callback as one of the next 4 fastest times from the 4 sectionals that feed into the Bloomington North Regional.
Three Lady Knights brought home Individual Sectional Championships. Senior Eden Siples capped off an incredible Sectional run by winning her 4th Sectional Championship in the 400 meter Dash. Eden also finished in second place in the 200 meter dash. Freshman Evie Noel ran a very impressive 1600 meter race where she pushed from the start and broke a 16 year old school record by running a 5:21.68 to win the 1600 individual championship. Freshman Macie Timberman was a surprise winner as she won the Long Jump despite being seeded to finish around 8th or 9th. She won with her first jump of the night where she recorded a personal best of 15’05.5.”
The 400 and 1600 meter relay teams both qualified for the Regional meet. The 400 Meter Relay team of Maggie Lackey, Raimey Vitz, Macie Timberman, and Rylie Vitz continued to improve their time by finishing third with a season best time of 52.08. The 1600 Meter Relay team of Maggie Lackey, Jolee Kellett, Macie Timberman, and Eden Siples finished third as well running a 4:19.11.
Individuals finishing in the top 3 and qualifying for regionals as well were:
Maggie Lackey – 200 (3rd place)
Adrienne Combs – 100 hurdles (2nd place) and Long Jump (3rd Place)
Evie Noel – 800 (2nd place)
Rylie Vitz – 100 (4th place, moves on due to being one of the next 4 fastest times heading into the Bloomington Regional)
Other lady Knights to score on the night were the following:
Jenny Lundy – Shot Put (6th Place)
Emma Dickison – Pole Vault (8th Place)
Jolee Kellett – 400 (7th place)
