The boys competed at the South Knox invite today and were able to come away with a lot of PRs, season bests, and a varsity team championship over a strong South Knox program. The boys competing in the jv race were edged out by Gibson Southern by 2 points. It was a hot and humid day on a hilly/challenging course but the Knights went out with goals in mind and fulfilled them.
In the Varsity race, the Knights were led by freshman Stuart Bennet’s 6th place finish in a personal record time of 17:38. He was followed in the top 10 by sophomore Corbin Butts who was 9th with a personal record time of 17:43. Junior Braden Norris ran to a 12th place finish with a time of 17:56. Sophomore Thomas Chapman was 15th with a time of 18:02 and Senior Evan Hendrich finished in 20th with a time of 18:31 which was a season best time. The other two racers in the varsity race were sophomore Carter Mullenix who finished in 25th with a time of 18:47 and sophomore Braeden Knerr who was 31st place overall with a season best time of 18:57.
In the boy jv race where they scored top 3 runners, the Knights narrowly lost to Gibson Southern by a score of 15-17. The Knights were led by freshman Braxton Mercer who ran to a 3rd place finish with a personal record time of 20:03 and was followed very closely by fellow freshman Miles Haviland in 6th place who ran a personal record time of 20:09 which was almost a minute faster than his previous personal record. Sophomore Hunter Brown was just another couple seconds back and ran to a season best time of 20:11 to finish 8th in the jv race.
