There were a lot of highly ranked teams at The Valley Kickoff this year including Bloomington South (8th), Brebeuf (9th), Bloomington North (11th), Westfield (22nd) and Jasper (41st). Northview was ready to see how their 36th place state ranking stacked up against those teams. The Valley Kickoff isn’t a scored meet, but the boys were able to compete very well and showed up to compete today.
The Knights were led by Sophomore Stuart Bennett in 14th place with a personal best time of 16:54.8. Juniors Thomas Chapman and Corbin Butts weren’t far behind finishing in 17th and 18th place respectively with times of 16:58.2 and 17:08.7. Senior Braden Norris finished in 28th with a time of 17:20.2 while junior Carter Mullenix finished in 52nd with a time of 17:40.2 which would have rounded out the usual scoring runners. Sophomore Jared Parkey ran a personal record time of 18:16.6 to finish in 84th, while senior Zach Hapenny finished in a time of 18:39.9 to finish in 103rd to round out the top 7 runners.
