The Northview Boys track team traveled to North Montgomery High School Friday night for the 45th annual Charger Relays. No team scores are kept at this meet, but the Knights had several good performances on the night. There were 9 teams competing at the meet–Northview, Lawrence North, North Montgomery, Southmont, Crawfordsville, Lafayette Central Catholic, Benton Central, Frankfort and Carroll.
Northview’s only 1st place finish came in the shuttle hurdle relay. The team of Gaidj Evans, Will Rindone, Taelur Evans, and Quinton Hayes were able to “out-lean” the Lawrence North team at the finish line. The long jump team of Ethan Linton (20’5) and Lance Rector (18’10.5) finished 2nd to Lawrence North.
The Knights had two 3rd place finishes in the 4×200 relay and the 4×400 relay. The 4×200 relay team ran an unofficial time of 1:35.02 and consisted of Liam Jones, Ben Girton, Tucker Stewart and Ethan Linton. The 4×400 team of Marcus Duregger, Kody Smith, Mikey Heading and Hunter Ragan ran an unofficial time of 3:38.
Northview finished with five 4th place finishes–the sprint medley team (Marcus Duregger, Gaidj Evans, MJ Shelton and Keaton Butts) ran a 1:44.4, the 4×800 team (Mikey Heading, Will Rindone, Quinton Hayes and Kody Smith) ran an 8:54.1, the freshman 4×200 team (Keaton Butts, MJ Shelton, Thomas Gearld and Noah Parr) ran a 1:43.4, the distance medley team (Kody Smith, Jarett Combs, Mikey Heading and Tyler McNabb), and the co-ed freight train relay team (Evan Dutrow and Jacob Dean).
Rounding out the night in the field events, the Knights had three 5th place finishes–pole vault (Lance Rector & Thomas Gearld), high jump (Hunter Ragan & Jarett Combs) and shot put (Jacob Dean & Evan Dutrow). The discus team (Jacob Dean & Brett Carter) finished 7th in their competition.
The Knights are back in action Tuesday night with a three-way meet at home versus South Vermillion and Riverton Parke.
